The Indian school education system is one of the largest and most complex in the world. The complexity of the system stems from India’s need to maintain standard and uniformity, while giving scope for its diverse culture and heritage to grow and flourish across the length and breadth of the country. Another aspect of this complexity comes from various school boards operating within each state. After independence India has worked hard to provide access to almost all its young people, but it has only just begun to focus on aspects of quality and seek to improve learning outcomes. Our MEET Online thrives to overcome these gaps of Indian education system, hence providing the brilliant youth of India a global experience and preparedness in education.
With growing interest in and popularity of online learning and lifelong learners, students’ ability to be engaged in self-regulated learning (SRL) has become more important. Moreover, online learning is becoming an important feature of K-12 education worldwide. In education, SRL refers to ‘‘an active, constructive process whereby learners set goals for their learning and then attempt to monitor, regulate, and control their cognition, motivation, and behavior, guided and constrained by their goals and the contextual features in the environment’’ (Pintrich, 2000, p. 453). Unlike in traditional educational settings, where learners are usually passive receivers of information provided by instructors, learners in the emerging information-age paradigm of education are active learners who have more control over their learning process (McCombs & Whisler, 1997; Reigeluth & Karnopp,2013; Reigeluth et al., 2008). SRL was recently declared one of the major competencies for 21st century learners (Wolters, 2010), and the importance of SRL keeps increasing as people engage in online education and lifelong learning.
One of the biggest advantages for a student to practice online over face-to-face with a tutor or in a classroom setting is its flexibility (Harasim, 2000), and subsequently these students have more control over their learning activities, such as when to study, what to study, and how to study.
Our MEET Online is committed to bring teachers, students, parents and administrators on one platform to make our children life long successful learners and transforming traditional Indian classroom to world-class digital classrooms. Hence preparing Indian students for global success.
